With nearly 10,000 new cases reported in the last 24 hours, India`s COVID-19 count on Saturday hit a new high with total cases crossing 2.36 lakh.

  • Telangana: Number of COVID-19 cases rises to 3,496 with 206 new people testing positive today. Around 123 people have lost their lives due to the disease so far:
     

  • Punjab: 54 new cases were reported today. The total number of cases jumped to 2,515 out of which 373 cases are still active. The death count at 50. 

  • Manipur: 14 fresh cases were reported today, taking the total number of cases to 157 of which 105 cases are active.
     

  • Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala: All places of worship can reopen from June 8 in the state, but no religious gathering is allowed. Social distancing norms must be followed.
     

  • Karnataka: 378 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases in the state to 5,213 which has 3,184 active cases.

  • Delhi: COVID-19 screening centre of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital to function between 9 AM and 5 PM from tomorrow.
     

  • Tamil Nadu: 1,458 new cases take the active count to 13,503. Total confirmed cases in the state surged to 30,152. Around 5.76 lakh samples have been tested so far. Record 19 deaths in a day took the death count to 251.

    Chennai: New cases - 1,146. Total - 20,993. Active - 10,223.

     

  • Himachal Pradesh: The total number of confirmed cases increased to 398. Over 201 cases are still active.

     

     

  • Mumbai: Ten more positive cases detected in the Dharavi area today, taking the total number of cases to 1,899 while 71 people have succumbed in the area so far. (ANI inputs)
     

  • Kerala: 108 new confirmed cases were reported today, taking the total number of active cases to 1,029.
     

  • Delhi: FIR against Sir Ganga Ram Hospital for allegedly violating COVID-19 regulation norms.
     

  • Uttar Pradesh: 370 new cases take the tally to over 10K mark; toll increased to 268 with 11 more deaths.
     

  • Madhya Pradesh: COVID-19 toll in Indore district rises to 153 with 4 more deaths; the total number of confirmed cases jump to 3,722 with 35 new cases.
     

  • Bihar: 147 more COVID-19 cases take the State's total to 4,745.

     

  • Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said that the national capital has so far reported 26,334 coronavirus cases and over 1,000 patients have been admitted to hospitals in the last three days. (ANI reports)

  • Himachal Pradesh: The total number of COVID19 positive cases in the state rise to 393 including 199 active cases and 185 recovered. The death toll is at 5.

  • Andhra Pradesh: In the last 24 hours, 161 new positive cases of COVID19 have been reported in the state. Total cases in the state rise to 3588 including 1192 active cases, 2323 discharged and 73 deaths.

As per the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), India registered 9887 more corona cases and 294 deaths in the past 24 hours, surging the total to 2,36,657 which includes 1,15,942 active cases. The Ministry informed that 1,14,073 persons have been cured/discharged/migrated, while 6,348 people have succumbed to the infection across the country so far.


Maharashtra continues to be the epicenter of the coronavirus spread where the number of cases has witnessed an even large spike recently. According to the Health Ministry, Maharashtra has the highest number of cases with a total of  80,229 cases of infection while the death toll is approaching 2,700. 


The Union Health Ministry on Thursday released the new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the opening of malls, hotels and restaurants as part of the Centre’s ''Unlock 1.0'' to further open up the country after nearly 70 days of lockdown to curb coronavirus infection.
