  • TDP-BJP combine won 35 Seats. Telugu Desam Party (TDP) bagged 32 whereas the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won only 3 wards. 

  • As per the reports, TDP leaders have credited the victory to Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and his work in Kakinada.

New Delhi: The ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Friday took reigns of Kakinada Corporation after 30 years by winning 27 divisions out of the 48. Counting of votes for the Kakinada Municipal Corporation (KMC) Election began at 8 AM at Rangaraya Medical College. About 65 per cent turnout was recorded when the civic body underwent to polls on August 29. Kakinada, which is considered as one of the Smart Cities in country and went to polls after a gap of seven years. Of the total 50 divisions in the KMC, polls were conducted in 48 only while the remaining were stayed by a court order. In all 241 candidates were in the fray.
