  • A portion of a ground-plus-one-storey building collapsed in Maharashtra's Thane district on Thursday afternoon, a civic official said. No one was injured in the incident, Thane Municipal Corporation's regional disaster management cell (RDMC) chief Avinash Sawant said. (PTI)

  • The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has deployed 17 teams in areas of Maharashtra that have reported heavy to very heavy rainfall. (ANI)

    "In Maharashtra, we have recently seen very heavy rainfall. The Maharashtra government had requested 17 teams and all 17 teams have been made available and are deployed in Mumbai, Thane, etc," NDRF DG Karwal told the news agency. 

  • Orange alert issued for today while a red alert issued for tomorrow in Mumbai, Thane and Palghar. In last 3-4 days central Maharashtra and Konkan region received good rainfall due to favourable conditions of monsoon. It will remain same for next 4-5 days: Jayant Sarkar, IMD, Mumbai (ANI)

  • Mumbai rain news: Meanwhile, amidst Mumbai rains, Congress' Aslam Shaikh addressed the issue of protest against Aarey Metro car shed. "Protest over car shed isn't only to protect people's houses but also the city... The government should look into the intent. In 3 days of rains, we have witnessed the city submerge. The forest area should be left the way it is," Shaikh told ANI.

  • Maharashtra rain developments: Palghar District Collector Dr Manik Gursal has instructed all sub-divisional officers and tehsildars to be on alert and take necessary steps to provide assistance in the present situation.
     

  • Mumbai rain latest news: A 51-year-old man, Ramesh Janya Goshe, from Charoti in Dahanu taluka in Palghar, was washed away in the flood waters on Thursday. The body was later recovered, an official from the district administration said.

  • Maharashtra rain updates: At least 32 houses were also partially damaged in different talukas of Palghar due to the heavy showers, an official from the district administration said.

  • On Wednesday, the decomposed body of a man was found in a swollen drain in Madhuban locality of Vasai township, an official from the Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation's fire services said. A police official said they suspect that the deceased, identified as Rahul Vishwakarma, who worked in a local factory, might have slipped into the drain amid the heavy showers and got washed away.

  • Maharashtra rain - House collapse in Palghar: Two persons were washed away in flood waters and one person was injured after a portion of his house collapsed following heavy rains in Maharashtra's Palghar district, officials said on Thursday. At least 32 houses were also partially damaged in different talukas of Palghar due to the heavy showers, an official from the district administration said.

  • A small portion of a wall collapsed between Masjid and Sandhurst Road stations in south Mumbai on the down (north-bound) track of the Harbour Line, affecting train operations on the route. Check Central Railway's tweets below:

For the fourth consecutive day, heavy rains pounded Mumbai. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall in the city and suburbs with very heavy to extremely heavy rains very likely at isolated places on Thursday. The IMD has also predicted the possibility of occasional strong winds reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph, a civic official said. The suburban services were delayed by a few minutes, due to heavy rainfall in Mumbai and the neighbouring Thane district, a Central Railway official said. The island city (south Mumbai) received 82 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours, while the eastern and western suburbs received 109 mm and 106 mm downpour, respectively, a civic official said.
