Uttarakhand Election Result 2022: BJP set to return to power, Congress second

Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami loses from Khatima Assembly constituency by a margin of 6,579 votes as per official EC trends.

"Victory in Uttarakhand, Goa, Manipur and Uttar Pradesh makes it clear that people will make Narendra Modi PM again in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections," said BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya in Dehradun.
"BJP is forming govt with two-third majority. New records are being made since PM Modi became the prime minister. I am thankful to party and central leadership for giving an opportunity to a person like me of a humble background," said Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami.

"We already knew that we'll form the government as PM Modi fulfilled all the promises he made to the people of Uttarakhand and CM Pushkar Singh Dhami too resolved issues of the people in the last 6 months," said BJP leader Kailash Vijavargiya in Dehradaun.
INC's Bhuwan Chandra Kapri is leading from Khatima. He is pitted against CM Pushkar Singh Dhami and leading with a 2000+ margin votes.
"Under the leadership of PM Modi and CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, we gave welfare policies to the people of Uttarakhand and have got expected results," said Union minister and state in-charge Pralhad Joshi in Dehradun.
"We are winning on most of the seats & there's a close contest where we're trailing. In an hour, these leads will convert into a majority for the Congress in Uttarakhand and it will get a majority in Punjab as well," says Congress leader Harish Rawat in Dehradun.
"Counting of votes underway in Dehradun, Uttarakhand Postal ballots are being counted right now. Around 550 police personnel are deployed here. The use of mobile phones is banned inside counting centers. Victory rallies can be conducted only with permission," said SSP Janmejay Khanduri.
Important Congress leaders whose fate will be decided include former chief minister Harish Rawat, former minister Yashpal Arya, state Congress president Ganesh Godiyal and Leader of Opposition in the fourth assembly Pritam Singh.
Several political heavyweights are among a total of 632 candidates awaiting what electronic voting machines (EVMs) hold in store for them.
Prominent among them are Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, his cabinet colleagues Satpal Maharaj, Bansidhar Bhagat, Subodh Uniyal, Arvind Pandey, Dhan Singh Rawat and Rekha Arya, besides state BJP president Madan Kaushik.The Aam Aadmi Party is also keen to emerge as a big player in the state and projected Col Ajay Kothiyal (retd) as the chief ministerial candidate. He is contesting from the Gangotri seat and will lock horns with BJP`s Suresh Chauhan and Congress' Vijaypal Singh Sajwan.
The exit polls have predicted a close race in Uttarakhand, leaders of both the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress have exuded confidence about emerging victorious during the counting of votes. If BJP is able to win the election, it will be the first time that a government will be repeated since the formation of Uttarakhand. Congress is hoping to gain from "anti-incumbency" against the government.
Ahead of the counting of votes for Uttarakhand Assembly elections, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and former state CM Harish Rawat held a meeting in Dehradun late on Wednesday night. Along with Baghel and Rawat, several leaders who were deputed by the Congress high command attended the meeting at Hotel Madhuban in Doon. The leaders discussed the future course of action after the counting of votes is done.
Uttarakhand Assembly Polls 2022: The counting of votes for the recently held elections to the 70-member Uttarakhand Assembly began at 8 am today (March 10). Polling in Uttarakhand took place on February 14 and the counting of votes took place on March 10. BJP won 47 seats but CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has lost.
Meanwhile, earlier in the week, the Zee News exit poll predicted a close fight between the ruling BJP and the Congress in Uttarakhand. According to the projections for the hill state of Uttarakhand, Congress led by former chief minister Harish Rawat is expected to win around 35-40 seats. While Congress is predicted to make a strong comeback in the hill state, the ruling BJP is likely to win over 25 seats.
