The ceremony was attended by PM Narendra Modi, former PM Manmohan Singh and union ministers. Naidu began the day with a visit to Rajghat to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi before heading to Rashtrapati Bhavan where he was received by President Kovind.

New Delhi: BJP senior leader Venkaiah Naidu will take over as the 13th Vice President of India on Friday, 11 August. The 68-year-old politican veteran, who secured an easy victory against Opponent Gopal Krishna Gandhi, was previously serving as the Minister of Information and Broadcasting. President Ram Kovind will administer the oath to Venkaiah Naidu. Naidu will go to Raj Ghat at 8:30 AM to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and from there he will head towards Deendayal Upadhyay Marg at 9: 00 AM. After that he will garland Sardar Patel Statue at 9:30 AM and at 10:00 AM he will reach Rashtrapati Bhavan, where his swearing-in ceremony will take place in Darbar Hall.
