Amid protests by doctors over the rape and murder of a junior doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited Swasthya Bhawan in Kolkata to meet with the protesting medical doctors.

While interacting with junior doctors protesting in front of the state health department headquarters in Salt Lake, Chief Minister Banerjee stated that she will review the doctors' demands and take action if anyone is found guilty.


"I have spent sleepless nights as you have been protesting on the road amid rains," she added, PTI reported.

She also announced the immediate dissolution of patient welfare committees at all state-run hospitals.


"This is my last attempt to resolve the crisis," CM said.


According to PTI, after CM Mamata left the site, the agitating doctors said they were not ready to compromise on their demands till discussions were held.
