New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee launched a scathing attack on the BJP on Thursday and accused it of misusing central agencies. While speaking at a TMC-organized Durga Puja Vijaya Milan function in Kolkata, she warned the saffron party to be prepared for the central agencies to come back on them when they are no more in power.
"Today, you are in power and are showing off your central agencies. Tomorrow when you won't be in power, these central agencies will enter your residence and pull you out holding your ears. That day will come soon," news agency ANI quoted Mamata as saying.
Recently, several Trinamool Congress leaders have been arrested by central agencies. While TMC MLA Manik Bhattacharya was arrested in connection with the West Bengal teacher recruitment scam, Anubrata Mondal was arrested in a cattle smuggling case.
The Enforcement Directorate had earlier arrested Partha Chatterjee, the then Minister in the West Bengal government, in the teacher's recruitment scam.
Meanwhile, Mamata also broke her silence on the Mahatma Gandhi look-alike asura idol that was placed at a Durga Puja pandal in Kolkata and termed it a "shameful act". The Bengal Chief Minister further said that she was disappointed but didn't say anything because there could have been protests during Puja.
"During Durga Puja, an idol resembling Mahatma Gandhi was showcased in place of Asura. What punishment should be given to them? The public will reply to such a shameful act. I was disappointed but didn`t say anything because there could`ve been protests during Puja," she said.
