Tamil Nadu fireworks unit blast: Six workers were killed in an explosion on Saturday at a firecracker manufacturing unit in the Sattur area of Virudhunagar district of Tamil Nadu, an official said, PTI reported.

The blast is believed to have occurred while mixing chemicals and it flattened at least one room and led to the deaths.


 "Six people died in an explosion that took place at a firecracker manufacturing factory in the Sattur area of Virudhunagar district," South Zone IGP Anand Sinha said, ANI reported.


Another tracking incident is also reported on Saturday in which a man and his wife were killed in Odisha's Jagatsinghpur district as their house collapsed after an explosion when they were making firecrackers, police said. PTI reported.


The incident happened in Badabag village in Sadar police station area late on Friday, they said, adding, that the impact of the explosion was such that the roof and walls of the house collapsed.
