“The weather condition has improved now and shrine board has directed to allow the pilgrims to go ahead,” said Fayaz Ahmad Lone, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ganderbal.

A joint team of armed forces has also been sent alongside the first batch of pilgrims.

“For safety, we're sending SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) and NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) teams,” added Lone.

The first batch of pilgrims going to Amarnath Yatra had been halted in Baltal and Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir due to heavy downpour since Wednesday evening.

According to ANI, the pilgrims were halted at the Nun Wan camp base camp made in Baltal and will be allowed to proceed further only after rain stops and the weather gets clear.
