Cold, foggy weather to continue in Jammu and Kashmir
Despite partial cloud cover on Sunday, dry and cold wave conditions continued in Jammu and Kashmir as the weather office said there can be snowfall by the middle of this week.
Srinagar: Despite partial cloud cover on Sunday, dry and cold wave conditions continued in Jammu and Kashmir as the weather office said there can be snowfall by the middle of this week.
"Moderate snowfall is likely to occur in the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir on January 4, 5 and 6, while there would be rainfall in the plains," Sonam Lotus, director of the Met department, said.
According to the official, the night's lowest temperature was minus 4.3 degrees Celsius in Srinagar and Pahalgam while it was minus 3.2 degrees Celsius in Gulmarg.
"Leh town in the Ladakh region recorded minus 7 degree Celsius as the minimum temperature on Sunday.
"Jammu city recorded 9.1 degrees Celsius, Katra 9.5, Batote 4.1, Bannihal 1.2 degrees Celsius and Bhaderwah town witnessed 1.6 degrees Celsius as the night's lowest temperature," the official said.
Despite an improvement in the minimum temperatures due to partial cloud cover, dry and cold wave conditions are likely to continue across the state for the next two days.
People in the valley and hilly areas of the state have already been facing problems due to low discharges in rivers, springs and lakes.
