The encounter, which broke out in Khudpora village on Saturday evening, has now concluded.

The two slain terrorists have been identified as Mohd Irfan Bhat and Shahid Mir, both belonging to Hizbul.

Meanwhile, two other terrorists managed to escape from the encounter site.

A large cache of arms and ammunition was also recovered from the slain Hizbul terrorists.

The security forces had launched a cordon and search operation in Khudpora area on Saturday evening following information about presence of some terrorists there, a J&K Police official said.

He said the search operation turned into a full-fledged encounter after the terrorists opened fire on  the security forces, which retaliated in equal measures.

Two militants were killed in the encounter while two others managed to escape, he said.

Mir was part of an arms case from 2004, the police spokesperson said.

"Incriminating material, including arms and ammunition, have been recovered from the encounter site. Police have registered a case and started investigations," he said.
