Zee Media Bureau Bangalore: Calling Congress` method of distributing poll tickets in the Karnataka Assembly polls as fool-proof, AICC general secretary Oscar Fernandes on Friday clarified that no one could `sell` tickets in the state. Refuting any rumours of him being a front-runner in the race for chief minister`s post, Oscar told a newspaper,”Even though, I am part of the Central Election Committee, I could not promise anyone tickets. I have cried many times for not being able to get tickets for my supporters.”
When asked if he was in the reckoning for the CM`s race, he said, “I was never made to become CM. To be a CM, one needs extra qualities which I lack. My objective is to ensure the party comes to power.”
Rebels have plagued almost every party and bastion in Karnataka, when asked how it could affect the eventual outcome, he said, “We have already started persuading these leaders to withdraw. If they are convinced, they will remain in the party or else, they will be expelled”.
Fernandes expressed hope that former external affairs minister, SM Krishna would campaign for the party in the state. The AICC general secretary also quashed any rumours of Krishna being upset after being denied a ticket.
