The Election Commission on Wednesday announced to hold a bypoll to the Karnataka Legislative Council to fill up a vacancy.
Bengaluru: The Election Commission on Wednesday announced to hold a bypoll to the Karnataka Legislative Council to fill up a vacancy.
The decision to hold the bypoll came after the assembly constituency became vacant following the demise of Smt. Vimala Gowda on June 17 this year.
Gowda was the sitting member elected by the Members of Legislative Assembly.
The Commission will hold the bye-election to fill up the vacancy in accordance with the following programme:
- Date of Issue of Notification: August 14, 2017
- Last Date of making nominations: August 21, 2017
- Date of Scrutiny of nominations: August 22, 2017
- Last date for withdrawal of candidatures: August 24, 2017
- Date of Poll: August 31, 2017
- Hours of Poll: 9.00 am to 4.00 pm
- Date of Counting of Votes: August 31 at 5:00 pm
- Date before which election shall be completed: September 4
