Bengaluru: At least nine people including three children were killed and 43 others suffered serious injuries following a head-on collision between a tempo and a cement tanker in Karnataka's Yadgir district in the wee hours on Tuesday.

According to primary information, nine people were killed on the spot.


The injured were rushed to a district hospital in Yadgir for medical treatment.


The accident happened after a tempo carrying several passengers had a deadly collision with a cement tanker.


The incident occurred near Ramasamudra village in Yadgir taluk, say reports. 


"They were all returning from Shahpur to Ganapur village in Yadgir after attending an engagement function at Bhimarayanagudi in Shahpur taluk," a police official told reporters. 


In another accident in Belagavi, three members of a family were killed when a truck hit their car by which they were going to Goa, on Dharwad-Ramnagar road, near Astoli village of Khanapur taluk, on Sunday night.
