"The Governor has given appointment to Edappadi K Palaniswami at 11.30 am. Beyond this there is no information now as to the meeting agenda," an official in Raj Bhavan told IANS.

A senior leader says the AIADMK camp led by Panneerselvam is hoping to receive a sizeable number of legislators today. Preferring anonymity, the leader tells news agency IANS that the Governor may not invite Public Works Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami to form the government in the state till everything seems to be clear. "With Deepa Jayakumar joining hands with Panneerselvam, the strength of our camp has increased manifold and there is no patch up moves," he adds.
As of now, neither O Panneerselvam nor Edappadi K Palaniswami has been called to form government, news agency ANI quotes Governor House sources as saying.
Earlier on Wednesday, AIADMK general secretary VK Sasikala, held guilty for corruption, returned to the Bengaluru jail. Sasikala, 59, was sent to a women's cell in the Central Jail soon after she reached Bengaluru in a convoy of cars from Chennai after her plea for more time to surrender was rejected by the Supreme Court.

The AIADMK has 134 of Tamil Nadu's 234 legislators.
The Tamil Nadu Governor yesterday met Palaniswami, who claimed the support of 124 state legislators or MLAs, and acting Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, who said he has the support of 11 MLAs. Both the leaders wanted to take a trust vote in the legislature and presented the Governor with a list of legislators supporting them.
Deccan Chronicle quotes sources as saying that Ch Vidyasagar Rao would give Palaniswami between 3-7 days to prove his majority in the Assembly.
Palaniswami is part of AIADMK general secretary VK Sasikala camp.

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court had found VK Sasikala guilty in the DA case and ordered her to serve a jail sentence.
