Lok Sabha election results 2019: Congress-led UDF alliance sweeps Kerala
The counting of votes for 20 Lok Sabha seats is Kerala along with other 522 seats, spread across 29 states and seven union territories, is all set to begin at 8 am on Thursday.
Contrary to the 2019 Lok Sabha election results in other states of India, the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) has bagged a massive victory in the high-profile triangular contest in Kerala by winning a majority of seats out of the total 20 Lok Sabha seats in the state on Thursday.
Kerala saw a three-way contest between the Congress-led UDF, the Communist Party of India (Marxist)(CPI)(M) led Left Democratic Front and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the aftermath of the Sabarimala issue, after the Supreme Court ordered in favour of the entry of women into the holy shrine.
According to the 2019 Lok Sabha election results declared by the Election Commission of India (ECI), Congress-led UDF won 19 seats while the ruling CPI(M)-led LDF had to face a major disappointment as they ended up winning just one seat.
Congress president Rahul Gandhi might have faced disappointment in Amethi, but he took the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in Kerala by winning with over four lakh votes against Communist Party of India (CPI) candidate P.P. Suneer.
Meanwhile, two-time sitting Member of Parliament (MP) Shashi Tharoor is all set for his third term in Lok Sabha after he won the seat for Congress in Thiruvantampuram by defeating BJP's Kummanam Rajasekharan by over one lakh margin.

Kerala saw a triangular battle between the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF)the Communist Party of India (Marxist)(CPI)(M) led Left Democratic Front and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at least in Pathanamthitta, which is the epicentre of the Sabarimala Temple protests.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), meanwhile, who has never won a Lok Sabha seat in the Kerala, is expected to open his account this time around according to the exit poll predictions on May 19.
It will be interesting to see whether the actual results will match the exit polls or the situation will exactly be the other way round.
