Latur Election Results 2017: From zero to No 1, BJP scripts spectacular victory
In the 70-member Latur corporation, it will a test of political clout for BJP leader and state minister Sambhajirao Nilangekar and the local Congress MLA Amit Deshmukh.
Latur: The Bharatiya Janata Party won in 36 wards in Latur municipal corporation election in Maharashtra. In 2012 polls, the BJP had not won any seat in Latur.
The Congress could just won victory in 33 wards, and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in one.
Congress had won 49 seats, NCP - 13, Shiv Sena - 2 in 2012 polls.
In a message on Twitter, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said: "Thank you #Latur for grand,historic mandate to BJP,showing faith on our Govt's policies!Congratulations to @sambhajipatil77 ! #LaturPattern"

Sixty percent turnout was registered in the polling held on Wednesday for the Latur municipal corporation.
Congress, which controls the corporation, had also got a drubbing in the recent local body polls in Latur district.
The city had faced acute water crisis last year and government had to transport water by railway wagons at the peak of summer.
Here, 407 candidates were in the fray whose fate was decided by 2.78 lakh voters.
