As per a report in the Economic Times, the company is likely to launch a 4G VoLTE feature phone this month with an astonishing price tag.

Quoting HSBC director and telecoms analyst Rajiv Sharma, the ET report said, “Jio is likely to price its 4G feature phone at a paltry Rs 500 to lure 2G subscribers to directly switch to 4G, which implies Jio subsidising each handset by as much as $10-15 (Rs 650-975).

The ET further noted that the phone might be launched around Reliance Industries’ annual general meeting on July 21.

The paper also said that Jio’s will most likely announce new tariff plan as its 84-day Dhan Dhana Dhan offer announced on April 11 is set to close by the month end.

Two out of three consumers in India want to switch to a new phone within the next 12 months with features like 4G VoLTE support and better memory and battery, a report by Counterpoint Research had found.

"Aggressive 4G offerings from free-trials to one of world's lowest priced 4G data plans bundled with bouquet of applications and content services, Jio has driven the purchase intention strongly in its favour in just six months," Counterpoint Research Associate Director Tarun Pathak had said.
