Bangladesh detains 10 for possessing fake currency notes
Nine foreigners and a Bangladeshi woman were detained in a raid here for possessing counterfeit foreign currency and fake note-making materials, police said on Monday.
Dhaka: Nine foreigners and a Bangladeshi woman were detained in a raid here for possessing counterfeit foreign currency and fake note-making materials, police said on Monday.
"A unit of ours raided the house at Bashundhara area last night and detained the 10 people, nine being foreigners, along with fake currencies and equipment to produce the counterfeit notes," a spokesman of the elite anti-crime Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) told PTI.
"Huge amount of counterfeit" foreign currency was recovered from their possesion, officials said without giving details of the exact amount.
Six of them were from Cameroon, two from Republic of the Congo, one from Lesotho and one Bangladeshi woman.
