Guwahati: BJP and its allies will form the next government in Assam, as per an opinion survey.

As per a poll conducted by ABPNews-Nilesen, BJP and its allies will get 78 seats, Congress 36, AUDF 10 and others 2.


However, present CM Tarun Gogoi has emerged as the first choice to become Assam chief minister.


39 percent voted for Gogoi and 29 percent voted for Sarbananda Sonowal, BJP's CM candidate.


The survey also said that there would be a dip in vote share for the Congress party.


The Grand Old Party are projected to be getting 34 percent votes as against 39.6 percent in 2011.


On the other hand, the combined vote share of the BJP-AGP-BPF alliance will be 44 percent.


When asked whether Bangladesh refugee was a poll issue in the state, 52 percent said yes, 33 percent said no, while 15 percent said they didn't know.


When asked as to how was Tarun Gogoi’s tenure as CM, 5 percent respondents rated it as very good, 35 percent said good, 33 percent said his work was average, 22 percent said bad and 4 percent said very bad.


BJP has formed alliance with AGP and BPF.
