About 67 percent of the electorate Thursday cast their ballot in simultaneous elections to the Lok Sabha and state assembly in Odisha, officials said.
Polling today was held for 10 Lok Sabha and 70 assembly seats.
17.20 pm: 58 percent voting till 4 pm
With polling having picked up for the 10 Lok Sabha and 70 assembly seats in the first phase of voting in Odisha Thursday, 58 percent of the electorate cast their ballots till 4 p.m., an official said.
"Information received by 4.00 p.m. relating to polling percentage in the state is 58 percent," an official from the chief electoral officer`s office - IANS
13.40 pm: 45% cast their vote
Brisk polling is underway in Odisha for Assembly elections as 45 percent votes have been cast till 1 pm.
People stood in long queues outside the polling centres in many places before the balloting started at 7 a.m.
12.30 pm: Odisha sees 24 percent voting till noon
With peaceful polling underway at all place in the state, 24 percent voters cast their vote till noon.
Jyoti Prakash Dash said the polling was peacefully underway across the state except for some disturbances in Maoist-hit Malkangiri district.
10.05 am: Peaceful polling at all places, says CEO
Polling began on a peaceful note for 10 Lok Sabha and 70 assembly seats in Odisha, an official said. “Everywhere balloting has started. We talked to all the district collectors and police officials and from nowhere have we got any complaints so far. It has started on a peaceful note," state`s Chief Electoral Officer Mona Sharma told reporters.

Polling began for 10 Lok Sabha and 70 assembly seats in Odisha, officials said.
Over 13 million electors will cast their ballot in the first phase of polling.
There are a total of 2,88,80,850 voters in the state. Polling for the remaining 11 Lok Sabha seats and 77 assembly seats would be held in the second phase April 17. - IANS
7.00 am: Polling begins for 70 Odisha Assembly seats
70 Assembly constituencies and 10 Lok Sabha seats go to polls in the first of the two-phase simultaneous elections in Odisha on Thursday. The constituencies are spread over in the western and southern areas of Odisha.
There are 98 candidates, including former Congress chief ministers Giridhar Gamang and Hemanand Biswal, former Union ministers Jual Oram (BJP) and Bhakta Charan Das (Congress) in the fray from Bargarh, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Balangir, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal, Aska, Berhampur and Kalahandi parliamentary constituencies.
Hockey star and former Indian team captain Dilip Tirkey is contesting the election as a BJD candidate from Sundergarh Lok Sabha seat, pitted against Hemanand Biswal of Congress and BJP`s Jual Oram.
Prominent Odia cinestar Siddhant Mohapatra is a BJD candidate from Berhampur Lok Sabha seat.
There are 688 aspirants for the 70 Assembly seats. Prominent among them is Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik who is seeking re-election from Hinjili constituency in Ganjam district.
An electorate of 1.35 lakh voters is eligible to exercise their franchise on April 10.
Tight security has been arranged in several constituencies in the Maoist belt where the extremists have given a call for poll boycott. More than 50 of the 70 Assembly segments which goes to the polls tomorrow are in Maoist-affected areas.

The EC has engaged 156 companies of Central Para Military Force (CPMF) besides about 27,000 personnel of the state police to ensure free and fair elections.
In vulnerable polling stations, the police have decided to operate in cluster manner instead of dumping more forces at one place.
Taking into consideration local situation, the timing of polling has been reduced by two hours in 56 Assembly segments.
While the polling time will be 7 AM to 4 PM in 56 Assembly segments, for 16 other segments it will be 7 AM to 6 PM.
Polling in the remaining 11 Lok Sabha and 77 Assembly constituencies in the state is scheduled to be held on April 17.
