Patna: Three school children were crushed to death and two others were seriously injured when they were run over by an overloaded, speeding truck in Bihar`s Rohtas district on Thursday, police said.


All the victims were girls who were standing near a road at Bamaur on National Highway-2, popularly known as Grand Trunk Road, waiting for their bus.


"Two of them died on the spot and another died in hospital," a police official said.


Angry over the incident, locals protested by blocking the roads for hours.


The state government has announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the family of each of the victims.
