Zee Media Bureau New Delhi: AAP candidate MS Dhir has been elected as the speaker of the Delhi Assembly after the Congress asked its MLAs to support his candidature. The AAP needed the backing of the Congress` eight MLAs to secure the post for Dhir.
Delhi Congress President Arvinder Singh Lovely said that the party MLAs have been issued a whip to support the AAP candidate. The Opposition BJP had earlier nominated the name of its candidate Jagdish Mukhi for the post of the speaker in the Delhi Assembly.
The Congress had also yeaterday backed the confidence motion by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
