New Delhi: The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has issued notice to the Health Secretary of the national capital after complaints of medical officers refusing to provide copy of medico-legal case to sexual assault victims.

The Commission has sought to know whether all the hospitals have been apprised of the directions, issued by the High Court of Delhi,


Health Secretary Chandrakar Bharti has been asked to provide information on the steps taken by the department to monitor the compliance of court orders.


"It has been brought to the knowledge of the Commission that the medical practitioners in the hospitals have not been providing the copy of Medico Legal Case to the survivors of sexual assault.


"The state of NCT of Delhi on September 18, 2009, clearly states that: The report should be prepared expeditiously and signed by the doctor conducting the examination and a copy of medical report be provided to the parents/ guardian of the child victim," PTI quoted the DCW notice as saying.


DCW has asked the secretary to submit his reply within seven days.
