Don`t want to involve Arvind Kejriwal in my personal matter: AAP MLA Somnath Bharti
Aam Aadmi Party MLA Somanth Bharti said on late on Tuesday night that he was not upset with his party as they were right in saying that the issue with his wife was a personal matter.
Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party MLA Somanth Bharti said on late on Tuesday night that he was not upset with his party as they were right in saying that the issue with his wife was a personal matter.
“Not upset with the party. They are right, this is my personal matter. How would they know what is going on between me and my wife,” he said.
He added, “Did not meet Kejriwal ji, he's a senior leader and our ideal. Why should we involve him in our personal matter,” as per ANI.
The AAP MLA also said that he had called the DCP and told him that he wanted to join the investigation.
“He (DCP) said that there is no need to join the investigation, there is status quo and HC has not given any such order,” Bharti said.
“On one hand, you're sending NBW and on the other hand you're saying that there is no need to join the probe,” the AAP MLA wondered.
Bharti, facing non-bailable warrant in a domestic violence and attempt to murder case filed by his wife.
He has denied that he was hiding from the world and said that he will provide all proofs to police to build up the case.
Bharti was on Tuesday protected from arrest as Delhi High Court asked the city police not to take any coercive steps against him till Thursday, as per PTI.
Justice Suresh Kait while passing the interim order also issued notice to the Police, directing it to file a status report in the case by September 17, the next date of hearing.
The court declined Delhi Police's request not to grant any interim protection from arrest to the former Delhi Law Minister, saying "I have to consider the material on record, so you file your affidavit in this regard."
Bharti said he was evading arrest as Delhi Police had slapped Section 307 (attempt to murder) and 313 (causing miscarriage without woman's consent) of the IPC to arrest him, as they could no longer arrest him under Section 498A (subjecting cruelty on wife by husband or his relative).
Bharti's wife Lipika Mitra, who was present in court, said she was "not interested in any reconciliation" with him as he had mistreated and abused her when they were together.
She claimed that despite knowing she was a diabetic and suffered from high blood pressure, Bharti had beaten her up, tried to strangulate her and even unleashed his dog on her knowing that she was seven months pregnant.
She also alleged before the court that he had neglected her and their two kids and she did not trust his intentions and she did not believe he was capable of change.
Bharti claimed problems in his marital life occurred as his wife does not want to move with him at his house in Malviya Nagar from her house in Dwarka, and he cannot move to Dwarka as he was an MLA from Malviya Nagar and he can't leave his people.
On the other hand, AAP has asked Bharti to surrender before police.
Sources said the party was upset with Bharti as it was unable to contact him, .
"We are trying to contact him, but are not able to. We advise him to surrender before police," AAP leader Ashutosh had earlier said.
Party sources, meanwhile, said that Bharti's "remaining incommunicado" was sending a wrong signal as AAP has been maintaining the stand that Delhi Police have been victimising its MLAs by arresting them.
