New Delhi: Facing flak for allegedly carrying out a 'raid' at Kerala House in Delhi over sale of beef, the Delhi Police, Wednesday, detained Hindu Sena chief Vishnu Gupta.

31-year-old Gupta was detained amid reports that an FIR has been filed against him under Section 182 of the Indian Penal Code - False information, with intent to cause public servant to use his lawful power to the injury of another person.

A media report said that Gupta was on the run since yesterday evening after he sensed that Delhi Police will take action against him. He was reportedly picked from Tilak Nagar area of the national capital today morning.


Gupta was the person who had made a call to the PCR alleging that cow meat was being sold at the Kerala House canteen, following which police officials had entered the Kerala House premises and made enquiries.

However, it was later found that the beef on Kerala House menu was buffalo meat.


The incident had triggered a political storm with Kerala CM shooting of a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding action against Delhi Police.
