Wednesday's decision comes six days after the Government of Delhi sanctioned Bharti's prosecution for his alleged involvement in the midnight raid that targetted a group of African women in the Khirki Extension area of South Delhi last year.

Last week, the Home Department of the Delhi Government had notified Lt Governor Najeeb Jung's sanction to prosecute the AAP MLA who represents the Malviya Nagar constituency in the Delhi Assembly for his alleged involvement in the raid in the Khirki Extension area in January 2014 when he was the Law Minister of Delhi.

Bharti is also in the dock on an attempt to murder and domestic violence charge lodged by his estranged wife, Lipika Mitra.
