New Delhi: Two persons were killed and one seriously injured when they were knocked down by a Honda City car driven by a drunken youth here on Monday, police said.

The incident took place around 6.30 a.m. on a road behind Tihar jail in west Delhi's Janakpuri area, police said.


The car was intercepted by police after a chase of around 400 metres and accused Rishab arrested.


"Accused Rishabh, 21, hit three pedestrians at different places in Janakpuri area this morning," Deputy Commissioner of Police Pushpendra Kumar told IANS.


"Kameshwar Prasad, 40, and Ashwini Anand, 67, were killed while Santosh, 40, was injured and admitted to a hospital," the official said, adding that he was out of danger.


The police officer said that Santosh was not in a condition to give a statement.


Anand was a resident of Janakpuri while Kameshwar Prasad, a government employee, lived in Sagarpur. Santosh too is a resident of Janakpuri.


According to another senior police official, Rishabh, a resident of west Delhi's Janakpuri area, was drunk at the time of the accident and was returning from a late night party in Hari Nagar.


He is a student of business administration and the car is registered in the name of his father who runs a hardware shop.


On April 4, Siddharth Sharma, 32, was mowed down by a speeding Mercedes car in north Delhi's Civil Lines area by a juvenile, who was allegedly driving in a residential colony at a very high speed.
