Notably, a number of teachers' bodies have been protesting on the issue of the new criteria for API scores, saying that it is not academic friendly and may lead to an increase in their workload.

Earlier sources had told PTI that the UGC is likely to accommodate several of their demands including not to increase workload.

It is learnt that after internal review and external consultations have led the University Grants Commission to consider possible revisions including restoring the direct-teaching hours of Assistant Professors, Associate Professors and Professors to 16, 14 and 14 respectively.
