Biplob Ghosal Sikkim, the second-smallest state in the country, which went to polls on April 12 is expected to witness the incumbent Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) coming back to power by winning 31 Assembly seats out of the total 32. The lone Lok Sabha seat is also set to be retained by SDF-led by state Chief Minister Pawan Chamling, exit polls indicate.
The north-eastern state, which is among the fastest developing in the country witnessed both the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections on the same day. The Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF), which has been successful in maintaining peace and security of the people for the past twenty years was expected to come back to power under the leadership of Chamling.

Chamling, who is seeking a straight fifth term in office, will contested from Rangang-Yangang Assembly seat, from where he entered electoral politics 32 years ago.

The opposition party - Sikkim Krantikari Morcha-led by PS Tamang Golay is likely to give a fight to the incumbent Chamling government, however the exit poll results indicate landslide victory for the SDF.

Sikkim has 42 Assembly seats and 1 Lok Sabha seat.
