Muzaffarnagar: The family members of Akhil Gupta, the slain witness in the sexual assault case against self-styled godman Asaram Bapu, has given names of four suspects who should be interrogated, a senior police officer said here on Friday.

The family of Gupta, who was shot dead on Jansath Road under New Mandi police station area in Muzaffarnagar on January 11, has demanded that these suspects be interrogated in case.


IPS officer Amitabh Thakur said two accused belong to Gujarat while the rest are from Muzaffarnagar.


Thakur said that victim's family is living under fear and proper protection should be given to them.


The family has also demanded a CBI inquiry into the murder of 35-year-old Gupta, a former cook and personal aide of Asaram, was the prime witness in the rape case against the self-styled godman in Surat.


Gupta had given statement before a Gandhinagar Court under section 164 of CrPC along with some incriminating proof against Asaram, who is accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old schoolgirl.
