The incident happened on Tuesday, when constable Shantilal Parmar tried to stop the motorcyclist Yogesh Baria, who was riding his bike with two more sitting besides him.

It is being alleged that the constable hit Baria with a baton and he started bleeding. This enraged the crowd, which in turn thrashed Parmar and set his motorcycle on fire. Three policemen who tried to intervene and save their colleague were left helpless.

The police have maintained that the biker tried to race away when asked to stop and lost balance and hit a road driver and fell down.
