The girl, a class 12 student and belonging to a Dalit family from Jatauli village near Heli Mandi, went missing under mysterious circumstances on Saturday. Her body was found in a mustard field here.

Her father had lodged a case of kidnapping at Pataudi police station on Sunday against Dharam Singh, a resident of the same village. The accused has been absconding.

An official of the Pataudi police station said that the girl`s body has injuries around throat and she might have been sexually assaulted before murder.

"We can`t deny possibilities of even gang-rape," he said.

A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team was called on the spot to collect evidence.

The police officer said it was only the post-mortem report that could say when the victim was killed but prima facie it looks that she was murdered three to fours days back, the officer said.
