Chandigarh: The authorities have identified six assembly constituencies in Haryana where a printer with a drop box would be attached to voting machines under the Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) System.

While giving this information here today, Haryana Chief Electoral Officer Shrikant Walgad said these assembly seats are Thanesar, Karnal, Panipat city, Sonipat, Rohtak and Gurgaon.


VVPAT is intended to be an independent verification system for electronic voting machines (EVMs). It allows voters to verify that their votes have been cast as intended.


He said that printer with the drop box to be attached with voting machines have been developed by Bharat Electronics Limited, Bangalore and Electronics Corporation of India Limited, Hyderabad.
