Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha got new members on the opening day of the Monsoon Session of the Parliament on Monday. Senior Congress leader Manmohan Singh was re-elected to the Upper House, while three new members of Lok sabha are the candidates elected in byelections. Manmohan Singh, Indramoni Bora (BJP), Rao Man Singh (INLD), Gurcharan Kaur (BJP) and Kalraj Mishra (BJP) were, sworn-in as members of Rajya Sabha on the opening day of the Monsoon Session.

While, Singh and Bora represent Assam, Rao Man Singh represents Haryana, Gurcharan Kaur Punjab and Mishra UP. Manmohan Singh who was re-elected a member of the House would continue as leader of Oppostion of the Upper House, Chairman Krishan Kant informed members.
Three new members who were elected in the recent Lok Sabha byelections also took took oath of office soon after the House assembled for the Monsoon Session. They were Dalit Ezhilmalai (AIADMK) who won the Tiruchirapalli seat following the death of BJP leader and Union minister P R Kumaramangalam, Ram Murti Verma (Samajwadi Party) who was elected from Shahjahanpur which fell vacant with the death of Congress leader Jitendra Prasad and Prabodh Panda (CPI) from Midnapore which fell vacant with the death of veteran CPI leader Indrajit Gupta.
