The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has announced that employers may ask their workers about health problems if the information is vital to making emergency evacuation plans, The Washington Post reported in its Thursday edition. The statement was issued Wednesday in response to employers questions since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Some employers were concerned they could violate the Americans With Disabilities Act, which protects workers against workplace bias, according to EEOC Chair Cari Dominguez.
As the employers prepared evacuation plans, they wanted to inquire about who might need help in an emergency, Dominguez said. Bureau Report
