Government officials from a fake adoption centre in Hyderabad have rescued thirty-four infants where they were kept illegally. The infants, aged between one month and one year, were rescued by officials of the department of womens' development and child welfare from the centre run by an NGO, "Action for Social Development" (ASD), during a surprise check in Gandhinagar locality on Friday, police said on Saturday.

They were shifted to state government run 'Shishu Vihar' at Vengalraonagar.
Meanwhile, following reports of illegal procurement and sale of children by voluntary organisations, the state government has decided to evolve measures to control such trafficking on a war-footing, director of women development and child welfare Shalini Misra said in a statement. The government has framed specific rules prohibiting relinquishment of children by biological parents. The rules issued under the orphanage rules-2001 vide a government order dated April 18 also makes it mandatory for nursing homes and hospitals to report the details of abandoned children and also children of unwed mothers to the project director of the department of women and child welfare, she added.
