London: An ancient condom made of sheep intestine has been sold for a staggerring 460 euros recently, thus becoming the most expensive condom in the world.

The contraceptive, believed to be made from the 18th or 19th century, was sold for more than double than what was expected through online auction site Catawiki.

The 200-year-old condom was found in France and is 19cm long, whereas the average length of the modern day condoms is 18cm long.

It is said that condoms from this period were made from the intestines of sheep, pigs, calves and goats and, were only used by the wealthy due to the time and cost they took to make.

The condom was purchased by a Dutch person from Amsterdam, who made the highest bid out of 38 bidders.
