Trinamool Congress on Sunday described as
unconstitutional the arrest of DMK president M Karunanidhi
and said it would fully support any decision of the Vajpayee
government with regard to the action of its Tamil Nadu
counterpart.
''The procedure of arrest was not only inhuman in nature,
but also appears to be undemocratic and unconstitutional,'' TC
chief whip in Lok Sabha Sudip Bandopadhyay said in a letter
to NDA converver George Fernandes.
Bandopadhyay said he had written the letter under the directive of TC chief Mamata Banerjee to convey its sentiments in relation to Karunanidhi's arrest.
Expressing shock at the arrest of union ministers Murasoli Maran and T R Baalu, he said Trinamool Congress also strongly condemned the physical assault on them. All political parties would protest against such inhuman action, Bandopadhyay said adding, ''All-India Trinamool Congress assures that it will extend full support to any decision which will be adopted by the government of India with regard to this undemocratic action which has been launched by the state government headed by Ms Jayalalitha.''
