"The flight was cancelled as it was diverted to Delhi-Kathmandu route to evacuate stranded persons in the quake-hit Nepal," Air India's Station Manager Anupam Bhatt told reporters here.

During summers, the number of tourists visiting Khajuraho is less because of scorching heat.

Bhatt said the passengers who have booked their tickets with Air India were being adjusted in another flight.

Film producer Ramesh Sippy who was scheduled to go with the Air India flight said it was the duty of every citizen to extend help in such a crisis situation.
