Secretary of the AIADMK`s legislature party wing A Anbalagan and other legislators, leaders of the labour union, women`s and students` wings and former legislators were among those who participated in the silent procession.

The participants wore black badges and also carried black flags marking their sorrow over the death of party supremo Jayalalithaa.

All participants later paid homage at the portrait of Jayalalithaa erected in the vicinity of the statue of Dupleix on the beach road and stood in silence for a couple of minutes in memory of their leader.

The party had already pleaded with the Chief Minister of Puducherry V Narayanasamy to erect a life-size bronze statue of Jayalalithaa and presented a petition to him in this regard on Thursday.
