Several AAP workers on Sunday blocked a road in south Delhi's Shaheen Bagh area while protesting the arrest of party's Okhla MLA Amantullah Khan, following which a case has been registered against them for allegedly preventing the movement of an emergency vehicle, police said.

The protest led to traffic jam in the area.

A number of commuters also had heated arguments with AAP workers.

Police tried to convince AAP workers to lift the road block so that a car in which a patient was being taken to a hospital could pass but they continued with their protest, said a senior police officer.

Following which, a case was registered against them, he added.

Khan was arrested on Sunday on a complaint of a woman alleging a car, in which the MLA was sitting, tried to run over her.

She has also alleged that she was being threatened by him for registering a case at Jamia Nagar Police station.
