While addressing workers on the occasion of 125th birth anniversary of B R Ambedkar, Mayawati said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was already on foreign tour and UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav was expected to leave for Germany today when farmers are suffering.

"At the time when farmers of the country are in distress, the Prime Minister is visiting foreign countries," she said, adding, "Now the Chief Minister too is leaving for one."

Referring to distribution of cheques of meagre amount to farmers, she accused the Akhilesh Yadav-led government of being "unsympathetic" towards them.

"It is a bad joke with farmers. Is distributing cheques of Rs 100 or Rs 200 without survey a joke or not?" she said.
