Sonowal also asked the officials to work with full honesty and dedication to make Majuli, world's largest river island, a developed district.

"The Brahmaputra Board and Water Resource Department must work in close coordination to effectively manage floods ravaging the island year after year," Sonowal said while chairing a review meeting.

He asked the officials concerned to complete all embankment and flood related activities before April, IANS reported.

The chief minister asked the water resource department to make a survey of the ongoing projects in Majuli and fix a time frame for their completion.

The government also plans to involve the civil society as well as NGOs to review the progress of developmental activities in the district.

He also ordered PWD department to quickly complete the 191 km road earmarked under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojna.

He also directed the Cultural Affairs Department to prepare a proposal for the 'World Heritage Site' tag for the river island.
