The Facebook page, titled 'Veterans of India', was started in November 2015 by Nachiket Pande to document stories on lives of defence officers and war veterans.

Nachiket, the son of a former Army soldier, was quoted as saying that his dad was in the Army for 25 years.

During this period, Nachiket was told stories about guns and various terrible situations which soldiers had to face.

That they (soldiers) had to stay away from families for so long was one of the topics of discussions.

The most thrilling part was about Army operations of which Nachiket's father was part of.

All this was thrilling and edge of the seat stuff, he said.

The 'Veterans of India' page on the social network features stories that have been written by veterans themselves and tales of bravery and courage of soldiers chronicled by someone known to them.

So far, 10 stories are highlighted on the page and most of these were collected during the protest for One Rank One Pension.

Nachiket, who is an active member of the OROP movement, says his aim is to honour the sacrifices of Indian soldiers through the Facebook page.

“I feel deeply for all the sacrifices that our soldiers do to keep us safe. It's my way of honouring them by telling their stories, so that more people become aware and appreciates their sacrifice,” Indiatimes quoted Nachiket as saying.
