New Delhi: India is trying to rescue two sailors -- an Indian and a Pakistani -- after a ship was hijacked by pirates near Africa, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said on Sunday.

The ship, Maximus, that had 11 Indians among its crew members was hijacked off Ivory Coast on Saturday.

Ten of the 11 Indian crew members on board have been rescued.

"On our request, the ship was followed by Ghana and Nigerian navy," Sushma Swaraj stated on Twitter.

"We have rescued 10 Indians with the help of Nigerian Navy. We are trying to rescue the 11th Indian and a Pakistani crew member from the pirates," she added.
