Chandigarh: PM Narendra Modi, who joined the mass demonstration being held in Chandigarh to celebrate the International Day of Yoga, said on Tuesday that Yoga is no religious activity and people must embrace it for better mental and physical health.

Addressing some 30,000 yoga enthusiasts at the Capitol Complex, Modi also said that the UN-declared International Day of Yoga had become the biggest global mass movement. Approximately 30,000 people were part of the event that is being celebrated for the second year in a row.


In his address, PM Modi advocated for popularisation of the practice across the world and desired for more Yoga teachers to be produced from India. He also announced two awards for the Yoga Day celebrations next year, one at the national level and the other at the international level.
