New Delhi: Noted Bollywood filmaker Mahesh Bhatt, who has criticised Narendra Modi in the past, Friday, heaped praise on the Prime Minister for flying down to Pakistan and meet his counterpart Nawaz Sharif.

Bhatt, who once called Modi as a "communal" leader today tweeted: "Every major leap in human thought has erupted from the audacity of hope ! It's brave of PM Modi to pay a visit to Nawaz. Sharif!"


In a major surprise move, PM Modi today announnced that he will be flying to Lahore today, his first touchdown in Pakistan, where he will meet Sharif.


The announcement came from Modi himself in a tweet as he prepared to wind up his brief visit to Afghanistan.


Earlier this morning, the Prime Minister tweeted greetings to Sharif on his 66th birthday and wished him good health.


Meanwhile, the Congress questioned Prime Minister's visit to Pakistan, saying serious information like this should not have been revealed through Twitter.


Congress leader Manish Tewari called it an "adventure" by the Indian prime minister.
