New Delhi: Hours after winning the Kerala Assembly polls with a thumping majority, CPI (M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury on Thursday said that result is against the unprecedented corruption and misrule by UDF in last 5 years.
Congratulating the people Kerala for electing their party into power, Yechury said his party will fulfill all the promises made to the people of the state.
"We salute the people of Kerala for the faith they have reposed in the LDF, we assure that we will fulfil the promises made. The Verdict is against unprecedented corruption and misrule by UDF in last 5 years," said Yechury.
"Historic victory of LDF in Kerala, had been possible because people have enthusiastically supported our postive program for development of state. These results confirm what we had said during campaign about a match-fixing between BJP & UDF," added Yechury.
He also said that the elections results were also a reply to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah's 'communal campaign' in the state.
"BJP had conducted a strident communal campaign led by PM and BJP President, it managed to enter Kerala assembly with 1 seat," said Yechury.
Yechury is scheduled to meet the Kerala state committee on selection of Chief Minister.
The Left front managed to gain clear majority in the 140-member Assembly house by clinching 0ver 90 seats. The ruling Congress-led UDF could only manage 47 seats.
