“I am not from the literary world but I have been meeting people over the years and have learnt many things," he said, adding, "When humanity was going through stone age, literary efforts started with writing on leaves. Today also there are scriptures available that have been written on leaves thousands of years ago. Then with human evolution, writing gained momentum and today the era that we are going through, we are privilege and blessed that we have the good fortune of enjoying the nine flavours of literature."

"Even science has accepted that we do not use even ten percent of our brain cells. Science has also accepted that if a human being is more knowledgeable, he/she sees things from a different prism. The person who is not so educated will get the same message in a different way," Dr Chandra said at the Mehfil-e-Gangojaman event.

"You cannot fool a person who is educated and knowledgeable," he quipped and maintained, "Literature helps us to understand any issue better."

"In India, even today the circulation of newspaper has not lessened," Dr Chandra pointed out.
